Spectrum-Master for Windows

IBM-PC control of the AR5000 receiver, with HAWK5000 for the SDU5000 bundled-in

SPECTRUM MASTER is a Windows based PC package which provides RS-232 control of the AR5000, the AOR
Data Base Toolkit is also included along with a version of HAWK-5000 for control of the optional SDU5000 Spectrum Display Unit. A quality printed operating manual is supplied with over 30 pages dedicated to the data base and further pages describing installation, a separate manual covers the Hawk5000 software.
A total of six 3.5inch HD disks are supplied, you get nearly 10M bytes of programs and data installed onto your system! The Tuner applications use the multiple document interface for displaying and editing radio memory data. This also includes a status display on the toolbar and simple frequency and mode tuning.

The AR5000 Tuner program has a "virtual" AR5000 front panel window for your computer desktop. This virtual radio has hot-spots which you simply click on with your mouse to operate the radio. What could be simpler! The volume & squelch controls interface using slider controls with a moving needle signal meter. In addition, the text based tuner interface may be used. The data base tool kit is a sophisticated radio data management system enhanced with the merging of geographical data with transmitter details. The picture (overleaf) illustrates how transmitter data can be plotted on a spherical projection world map. AOR Data Base Toolkit is a suite of compiled Visual dBase applications with the following exciting features:-

SWL Logbook: records include: start/end time, date, frequency, ID, mode, report, comment and (optional) audio entered by drag and drop (OLE).
HF Broadcast Stations: includes full frequency, time and geographical data for export in text format.
"What's On...?" query for extracting station details for transmitters on the air within user specified times.
Over 1700 entries are included in the data base gathered from sources on the Internet.
HF Utilities: HF FAX and beacons; Over 400 entries covering stations from all over the globe.
VHF/UHF: Beacons on VHF/UHF (over 390 entries); UK version includes medium wave and Band II VHF broadcasters too (over 1800 entries).
Comprehensive lists of over 3700 British Isles and 6200 World Place names for fusing transmitter details
with geographical data - achieved using the latest sophisticated relational data base techniques.
Full search facilities including dBase expression builder (extract precisely the data you want e.g. only those stations which are HF FAX using LSB; or extract all transmitters from Quito, Ecuador).

Key Features

Full control. Virtual radio front plus text interface similar to Data-Master for the AR7030. Control of facilities (mode, frequency, attenuator etc) including EEPROM bank switching and +3 facilities supported.
Unlimited number of disk based memory banks.
Save multiple memory banks, ideal when travelling between different cities. Memory upload/download to the same or different location using a re-numbering system. Import/export data in PC-Manager format.
Copy data to & from clipboard. You can exchange memory data with Windows Clipboard for bulk editing and export to a data base (not supplied) or other Windows applications.
Spectrum display. View band activity in a
spectrum-type display window.
Full support for Windows Sound Recording. Should you have a correctly configured multimedia compatible sound card, you may record audio from your receiver while scanning frequencies, Spectrum Master uses the sound recording facilities of Windows Multimedia extensions (.WAV files). A log contains all the recordings you have made so that you may replay them at a later time through Spectrum Master or standard Windows applications.
Microsoft Windows Program. Sizeable windows in foreground and background with a standard look and feel.
On-line context sensitive help. The full Windows hypertext help system is used to provide the information you need wherever you are in AOR Spectrum Master. In addition to the help menu, dialogues have a "help" push button which calls up information specific to that dialogue.
Working aids. Propagation, foreign language, modulation working aids, international bandplans. International map with projections, frequency data-base and listeners logbook.

Minimum System Requirements

· Pentium P60 PC processor (or higher)

· Colour graphics display with at least 800 x 600 pixel and 256 colours

· Windows^® 95 or Windows^® 3.1x operating system (Windows^TM NT is not
currently officially supported)

· 8M byte of system memory (640k bytes of base DOS memory);
16M bytes highly recommended if running tuner and data base
applications together

· Microsoft^® mouse or equivalent (strongly recommended)

· At least 8M bytes of free hard disk space (2.6M bytes for the tuner
application and 5.3M bytes for data base applications)

· At least two RS-232 serial ports (one for mouse if used)

· Windows^TM compatible printer (optional)

IMPORTANT NOTE *

This package fully supports the AR5000+3 receiver (serial numbers start around 070660).

All standard AR5000 units with serial number 070000 or higher are supported.

ƒ Units with serial numbers starting with the number 5 may provide varying levels of compatibility (initially s-meter was in 64 not 256 steps and some commands have changed). For this reason it is recommended that the TUNER DEMO be tested out first to establish compatibility.
