SR2000 bulletin page

This is the temporary bulletin page for the SR2000, it has been generated so that SR2000 owners may update their firmware to benefit form the latest changes.

For now, refer to the SDU5600 update process but use the HEX files for the SR2000, the same uploader program is employed for the flash update.

The firmware of the SR2000 is displayed when the display unit is switched on and can be flash updated via the RS232 port of a PC. A utility (SHboot) is provided here to transfer a HEX file but the displayed language of the utility is Japanese. A full description of the process with screen shots is presented as an Acrobat PDF file as part of the utility ZIP file (but is currently referring to the SDU5600).

If you are unsure of the process, wait for the documentation to be updated specifically for the SR2000.

You will also need to remove the top cabinet from the SR2000 and remove the RF UNIT (RFU), there are two screws holding the RFU to the rear panel and two inside the SR2000. You will have to temporarily move a jumper (no soldering is required), then move the jumper back to the original position, re-fit the RFU and top case.

1) Right-click the link for the compressed ZIP file and save it to a temporary directory on your PC, the file is 1.6MB in size and includes the documentation and latest HEX file.

2) Unzip the file to the temporary directory and read the "sdu5600_flash_update_instructions.pdf" file using Acrobat Reader. If you do not have a utility to unzip or read the file, follow these links for free utilities:

3) Run SETUP.EXE to install the flash utility to your computer, best to accept the default paths. This utility has been used on English and Japanese language PCs via COM1 with operating systems W95/98/ME/XP/2000.

4) Copy the latest HEX files to the target directory, the uploader uses FLASH7047.MOT and currently the SR2000 firmware hex file name is SR2000_602A.MOT

As the PDF file is not constantly being updated, this file name will not be the same file as the illustration in the PDF documentation.

Then follow the instructions given in the PDF file to set up the flash update utility - but remember to use the files for the SR2000 - FLASH7047.MOT / SR2000_602A.MOT

The latest version addresses phantom hits when conducting an FFT search (F+1), a bug on bank 39 and improved linearity. AOR Japan (the manufacturer) has not provided a detailed list of firmware changes.
