IBM-PC control of the SDU5000 and interconnected receiver
HAWK-5000 for WINDOWS is a specialist software package designed to communicate with the AOR SDU5000 spectrum display unit and interconnected receiver (AOR AR3000A, AR5000, and ICOM R7000, R7100 & R9000). Effectively, front panel control of the SDU5000 is provided via a `virtual' SDU5000 display which provides access to frequency, mode (attenuator on some receivers), and specific SDU5000 facilities such as display bandwidth, resolution, averaging display, maximum hold, page up & down, receiver type and COMMS settings.
A spectrum window displays visual band readout and dBm signal strength. As you may expect, HAWK-5000 for WINDOWS adds extra facilities as well... The spectrum display may be recorded to a computers hard drive in the form of AVI files for later replaying of historic events, even after the event you can still measure receive frequency and signal strength with pause and forward/reverse controls.
A wide band SONOGRAM display provides frequency and time readout using a mouse while New Energy Analysis (NEA) formats RF energy into channelised PC-Manager data format for PC-Manager for DOS (AR8000), PC-Manager for WINDOWS (AR8000 & AR2700) and Searchlight for Windows (may require software upgrade AR3000A & AR3000).
The list of facilities continues with a HISTORY list of centre frequencies... but the software package need not be complex to operate... On-line context sensitive help is available, also from the help menu and by pressing the F1 key. A separate printed operating manual accompanies HAWK-5000 for WINDOWS.
A download demo of HAWK-5000 for WINDOWS is available from a link on our web site on the internet. | Computers "always" generate RF noise which
may interfere with the receiver's reception especially if
the standard set top aerial is used. To reduce the effects of noise, use of a remote aerial is highly recommended with good quality 50 OHM coaxial cable employed. |
