Note: It appears that servers / browsers may now BLOCK "HEX" and "HT" files, for this reason the files are provided as TXT. Right-click on the appropriate link and SAVE AS to your PC changing the extension from TXT to HEX or to HT as appropriate (Oct'2006).

The AOR SDU5500 PC Windows based free download software is now available. This site currently contains a beta version, your feedback is welcome. The software provides control of the SDU5500 and companion receiver via the RS232 cable connection. Virtual graphical display and AVI file video recording to disk are also provided.

** SDU5500 firmware: The SDU5500 must provide version 1.010 firmware (or higher) to provide operation via this control package. Press and hold the [.] decimal key on the front panel of the SDU5500 to display the current firmware version number, the original release was V1.005 with V1.011 now available via 'field upgrade'. Download the three additional files and follow the PDF instructions, you will require Adobe Acrobat reader to view the instructions.

The SDU5500 employs a FLASH programmable CPU so that a HEX file may be uploaded via HyperTerminal or similar software. CAREFULLY follow the instructions and do not switch off the SDU5500 during firmware upload.

# Note that the PC to SDU5500 download time of the V1.302 HEX file is in the region of 20 to 25 minutes, great patience is required as the system will appear to be inactive during this period of time! V1.302 offers better support for the ICOM R8500, if you are running an AOR radio with the SDU5500, there is no advantage over V1.011, no additional features are provided.
