The AR7030 is extremely compact so there is limited internal space for options. This internal cabinet space is considered to be in three sections. Generally speaking each option (except for filters fitted directly to the main PCB) takes one space, the battery however takes two spaces. With this in mind it is theoretically possible to fit the crystal daughter board, notch/noise blanker PCB at the same time... but then there is no room for the internal battery. If the battery option is fitted then only one other option may be fitted in addition. Operation will usually fall into categories of "High Performance" or "Portability" so this should not cause too much of a problem. There is no fitting charge for options if ordered with a new AR7030 receiver.
NB7030 Notch filter / noise blanker /replacement CPU
The NB7030 will be an all-in-one option comprising three facilities in one: NOISE BLANKER, NOTCH FILTER and FEATURES CPU with added facilities. This option will fit internally with excellent integration for the operator.

Audio notch filter
Used to remove annoying whistles when listening in AM, SSB, Data and CW modes. A specially designed 4th order notch shape makes the notch "easy to tune" (unlike some other notch filters on the market) while retaining great depth. Excellent integration provides enhanced features such as notch follow and auto search for tone.
Impulse noise blanker
Useful for reducing ignition noise from passing motor vehicles etc. switchable and adjustable threshold to ensure the highest performance is maintained. Unlike some other noise blankers, this option even works well in AM mode, not just SSB.
Blanking periods:
AM/SYNC 8mS / 12mS
SSB/CW 1.5mS / 12 mS
Enhanced CPU
Operators always want more... and YES, feature rich as it is already, it is possible to add even greater facilities to the AR7030. A replacement plug-in CPU with additional plug-in EEPROM will provide around 350 memory channels, each capable of retaining a 14 character alphanumeric text comment. When tuning across frequencies already stored in memory, the text display will be shown on the LCD for easy station identification. Multiple timers using data stored in memory allows multiple switch-on/off similar to a video recorder, ideal for unattended recording to tape. A frequency search facility is also planned plus slight changes to memory menus.
The enhanced CPU will be supplied as part of the NB7030 option but as a by-product will be available separately to those who desire the additional functionality without the noise blanker or notch filter. This is referred to as the FEATURES CPU, part number FPU7030.

This telescopic whip aerial (over one meter in length on a right-angle PL259) was specially produced for the AR7030 which has a built-in whip amplifier and impedance network fitted as standard to the receiver. Few telescopic whip aerials are available for short wave receivers in general with PL259 plugs for 50 OHM inputs, this makes the TW7030 an ideal companion for not only the AR7030 but many other brands too!
SM7030
This service kit is now available. This kit comprises circuit diagrams, PCB layout, circuit description, PC service disk with hard copy instructions, technical bulletins on disk and RS232 lead.
Retro plus upgrade
If you already have a standard AR7030 receiver, please contact us at AOR UK to discuss retro-upgrades to your existing receiver. The PLUS upgrade can now be applied to all units. First production batch sets with serial numbers between 100001 - 100525 also have their bandpass input components changed to provide a flat IP3 around 1.7 - 2.0 MHz, there is no cost penalty. A certificate confirming modification is provided with retro-upgrades and with new AR7030 PLUS receivers.
For those who want the 'edge' then this model has been designed for you. All aspects of performance have been carefully studied and specific performance enhancements have been applied making excellent into the ultimate :-

We use Securicor Omega, this is a UK specific courier with the reciprocal being Fedex world-wide. The choice is yours but we try to use the same courier back to keep paperwork sensible and to minimise inconvenience at customs on its return journey.
Ensure that the courier provides paperwork to allow free passage into the UK and back, state clearly where the set is going and why. Usually form C88 is completed by the courier, a commercial invoice will also be required stating value for customs and insurance.
The following wording must be used in a prominent position on the carton and accompanying paperwork:
1. Manufactured in the UK.
2. Being returned to the manufacturer for WORKSHOP ATTENTION
which will take no more than two weeks (less than the statutory 6
months), the unit will then be RETURNED.
3. Short wave receiver, frequency coverage 0 - 32 MHz, no licence
required. Meets current CE and FCC requirements.
If you have the original carton - GREAT. Pack the radio, we do not need the remote, power supply or handbook. In the cardboard section where the power supply originally fitted, fill with paper etc to prevent collapse.
Place the carton into another box or at least wrap another cardboard skin around the carton to stop perforation damage... never ship just in the original carton.
